LSIC Policy Review:
Composition of council: school staff (teachers, service personnel), parents
Agendas and minutes must be posted on Gilmore Elementary School and Jackson County Schools websites
Review of Needs list from last year:
Walkie-Talkies ordered, not yet delivered
Copiers- two new purchased and delivery completed
Risers- priced, in process of choosing
WVU-P Partnership
Mary Beth Hunt presented on the SNAP-Ed grant ($2,000 per teacher; must be movement based items; due Sept. 30; new grant begins Oct. 1), WVU-P currently has 6 pre-program students
Safety Concerns
Playground mulch- installed and completed
Nature/Walking Trail- pavement completed
Exterior porch bricks- need replaced
Camera in gymnasium- needed
Asphalt chunks at end of parking lot- needs removed
Bushes along parking lot- need maintained or removed

Update of wish list from last year:
Walkie-Talkies delivered and in use
Copiers- two new purchased, delivered, and in use
Risers- acquired from Ripley High School, no purchase necessary
Update on safety concerns from Sept. 11, 2024 meeting:
Playground mulch- installed and completed
Nature/Walking Trail- pavement completed
Exterior porch bricks- purchased, delivered, and in process of being repaired
Camera in gymnasium- needed as soon as possible
Asphalt chunks at end of parking lot- needs removed
Bushes along parking lot- trimmed
Trees around nature trail- companies have visited to assess trees that need trimmed or removed
Cafeteria/gym roof- under inspection to be repaired/replaced
Counselor Plan Review:
Read aloud, discussed, and signed.
Library Books Review:
Purchased with Scholastic funds: Dork Diaries, Big Nate, Diary of a Roblox, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Pixie Tricks, Cupcake Diaries, I Survived
WVU-P partnership:
Will apply for Snap-Ed grant ($2,000) to purchase items that support physical activity (indoor recess)

· Group asked not to return due to misuse of facility

Items Discussed:
1. Update of items requested on wish list from February:
· Purchased: two walkie-talkies, two buddy benches for playground, two security cameras for gym, two picnic tables for playground
2. Playground:
· Big toy was removed due to safety violations/concerns
· Need of new playground equipment- potential fundraising, potential alumni association donation
. Update on Safety Concerns:
· Mushrooms in mulch
· Birds behind building in stairwell
· Wasp/bees nests around pavilion, etc.
· Preschool playground- insufficient gravel
4. Discipline Report:
· 1 student served 1 day of ISS so far this nine weeks
· 3rd, 4th, 5th grade on discipline contract
· Student issue on bus resolved
5. Academic Progress for 2024-2025:
· End of Year iReady Benchmark for school (K-5):
§ Reading: 81% green (on grade level), 12% yellow (one grade level behind), 7% red (two or more grade levels behind)
§ Math: 75% green, 22% yellow, 3% red
§ Math: as a school: 143% growth
§ GSA projected proficiency for 3rd, 4th, 5th grades:
o 3rd : reading 47%, math 63%
o 4th : reading 83%, math 75%
o 5th : reading 77%, math 77%
· 3035 Third Grade Success Act letters to be issued:
§ Kindergarten: reading-0, math-1
§ First: reading-0, math- 0
§ Second: reading-2, math-7
§ Third: reading-7, math-7
6. Comments or concerns:
· Possible fundraiser for playground before the end of this school year; will check with PTO
· Breakfast and lunch offerings will be different next year due to dye contents; possibly no free/reduced meals
