Help Stop the Spread

With the heightened attention on COVID-19 prevention efforts, I want to emphasize the importance of good preventative measures to stay healthy.

Washing your hands and encouraging your children to do the same, will help in stopping the spread of germs.  Germs live everywhere, even on the most unexpected surfaces!  I want to challenge you to keep your hands germ-free by following these simple steps when washing your hands.

1. Wet your hands with warm water

2. Lather your hands with soap until you see bubbles form

3. Wash both hands, including each finger and thumb, under the fingernails, the backs of hands, inside palms, and around the wrists for AT LEAST 20 seconds.  Singing the “Happy Birthday” song or the ABC’s twice is a great way to ensure you are washing for 20 seconds.

4. Rinse hands thoroughly under running water, rubbing your hands together to remove all soap, dirt, and germs.

5. Dry hands with a paper towel, then use the paper towel to turn off the water faucet.

If soap and water aren’t available, use an alcohol-based sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content.

Social distancing is the key to slowing the spread of COVID-19 by limiting contact with members outside your house.  While school is out, we still encourage children to have at least 60 minutes a day of physical activity; however, children should NOT play with children outside their households. Maintaining a healthy diet, being physically active, and getting adequate sleep are critical components to a strong immune system to help fight germs.
