save cans

Gilmore Elementary is excited to officially launch our 1,000,000 Can Drive, a community-wide effort to collect aluminum cans and raise funds for a new playground!

Beginning October 1 and continuing through April 1, Gilmore Elementary will be collecting aluminum cans as part of a nationwide competition featuring 72 schools from 16 states. All collected aluminum cans will be recycled, and Gilmore Elementary will be able to keep the proceeds from the cans we collect. In addition, schools competing in the challenge have the opportunity to earn additional cash prizes based on their performance.

Our ultimate goal is to use the funds raised through this initiative to help purchase a new playground for Gilmore Elementary—one that will benefit our students and serve as a valuable resource for the entire school and community for years to come.

We are asking students, families, staff, local businesses, and community members to join us in this exciting effort. Every can counts, and with the support of our community, we hope to make a tremendous impact! We currently have collection sites at Constellium in Millwood, WV, Fairplain Elementary School in Fairplain, WV, Riverbend in Ravenswood, WV, B&W Auto Specialist in Sandyville, WV, and Gilmore Elementary School. In addition, we have several businesses saving cans for us! Thank you to McDonalds of Ravenswood and Rt. 56 Golf Course for your efforts in helping our students!

Gilmore Elementary has placed a large dumpster specifically for collecting the donated aluminum cans, making it easy for community members to contribute. As we work toward our goal of 1,000,000 cans, we invite everyone to save their aluminum cans and help us turn them into something that will make a lasting difference for our students.

Help us reach 1,000,000 cans and bring a new playground to Gilmore Elementary!
